Copper Wedding Inspiration

Copper Wedding Inspiration

The following is my first wedding shoot here in Victoria where I personally hand picked all the talented vendors to help bring my vision to life. My inspiration was copper, as we have all seen hundreds of weddings with silver and gold and I was craving something different. Copper will work beautifully for any fall or winter wedding. But let’s not underestimate it for spring, after all this shoot took place in the spring, hence all the beautiful ranunculus!! Enjoy. Garden Tea Party Wedding at Villa Marco Polo Inn

Garden Tea Party Wedding at Villa Marco Polo Inn

Jody Nay of Wallpaper Photography had a great vision for her garden tea party wedding at Victoria’s Villa Marco Polo Inn last summer. I had never met Jody before and soon after our first meeting I knew she would be a fun bride to work with. I love meeting people who have an equal passion for weddings, and all things beautiful. She knew she wanted air plants, succulents, wrist corsages, flower crowns and a garland for the aisle. She originally wanted to wear a wrist corsage herself, but in the end I convinced her to let me make her a small bouquet using a protea. And I am so glad she went for it because it looked amazing with her soft pink Vera Wang dress. Flowers in Your Hair on Your Wedding Day

Flowers in Your Hair on Your Wedding Day

Flower crowns are still a very popular choice for brides and flowers girls. And they can add a serious wow factor to your overall wedding day style. If you feel like a flower crown just doesn’t fit your wedding day look, but still love the idea of flowers in your hair consider pinning a few simple blooms into your hair style. Sharon Rai from Sharon Rai Hair and Makeup Artistry pinned these individual hellebore blooms and camellia bloom in with bobby pins and the effect is very striking! (photo: Deanna McCollum Photography) What you need to consider: 1. How long will these blooms be in my hair? Do you have a different look for the ceremony and reception? If you plan on having the flowers in your hair the whole day and night your florist will need to provide you with very hardy flowers. Orchids, mums, lots of various greens, hypericum berries, small succulents or air plants would all be good options. If your hair stylist is with you for the whole day she can swap out any wilted flowers if using more delicate blooms. Just be sure to order extras from your florist to have on hand. 2. What time of year and how hot is it going to be on your wedding day? If you are getting married in the hottest month of the summer you need to be sure to stay away from delicate blooms. There is nothing worse than seeing wilted flowers in pictures! (photo: Deanna McCollum Photography) Creating a sort of floral “hair piece”  is perfect if using very hardy flowers like orchids. I...
Bridal Bouquet Trends – Trailing Ribbon

Bridal Bouquet Trends – Trailing Ribbon

(above photo shared from Once Wed) The bridal bouquet is the most important part of any bridal package in my opinion. It captures the overall essence and feel of the wedding. Over the last couple years we have really started to see more brides using trailing ribbon. There are various companies who take pride in hand dying techniques and using plant based materials which makes for a really beautiful product. I have shared some pictures below which I hope inspire you to express yourself with ribbon!! Intimate Vancouver Island Wedding

Intimate Vancouver Island Wedding

Last summer I had the pleasure of being apart of a very small intimate Vancouver Island wedding. The whole wedding took place in a beautiful log cabin in East Sooke. The family wanted to support local as much as possible, which I love!! So not only was the lamb dinner from Metchosin but so were most of the flowers I used. It’s not every wedding that I get to spend the morning harvesting dahlias, scabiosa, and other unique flowers from Charles the Gardener. It sure was a treat, and a surprise because I really had no idea what he was going to have. There were many handmade touches to this wedding that made it special, from the bride’s gown to the cake. And my favorite detail was the vintage car, it made for some incredible photos! All photos by Foto Art...
